It is not just the hotels, but all along the coast are small fish restaurants which cooked the fish which are caught daily. There is easy access to boat trips, sailing and Diving and all the other wonderful things that can be done on the beach. Fish are caught locally and though there are no fish shops most of the local restaurants catch their own fish and would be happy to sell you the fish for you to cook. Normally they will tell you the best time to come back for the next catch. Some of them will even invite you to go along but you should make sure you have a lifejacket. |

In Alanya there are several fish shops selling a fabulous assortment of fresh locally caught fish. The fish is wonderful and there are three fish restaurants selling fresh dishes within 3 km. The menu depends on the catch, and there is always fresh salads, bread and fruit and of coarse beer. My kids often just pop along to the beach where are always fishermen fishing from the rocks and they are happy to let you have a go. They will even share a drink and lunch with. If you ask they might even sell their catch. There is no place to hire tackle but we had no problem borrowing it. But you have to show respect and realize that often it its very expensive to replace for a fisherman who is often quite poor. |
We have eaten prawns and sardines but there are lots of fish I have no idea about. My wife who is Turkish said there are lots of fish here that normally people would never see. The restaurants are almost all run by locals and they are very good value for money. They are full of friendly staff and many have their own private beach area where you can swim or laze on the sand. Alanya has lots more to do in the sense that there are lots of restaurants and in the harbor there are lots of boats for hire and offering trips out in the sea.
